Fragrance Families + Concentrations

Fragrance Families + Concentrations

SENTi understands shopping for fragrance can be complicated and intimidating in-person and even more-so online.

SENTi takes an educational approach to fragrance and scent by providing background on fragrance families (classification system), ingredients (notes), concentration (strength) while also encouraging you to challenge your instincts and take chances because fragrance is fun and meant to be tried, worn, layered and loved.

Fragrance Families - every fragrance is based on this system of olfactory ‘groups’, based on their dominant characteristics. Keep in mind, many fragrance notes pull from nature with variations that may blur a bit into other fragrance families. This system uses another sense, sight, by using color to help make a visual connection to the fragrance family member.

Concentration - fragrance strength helps to understand the longevity of different fragrance types.

In addition to the above, SENTi also recommends when fragrance-shopping on shopsenti.com, take into consideration your other 4 senses - taste, touch, sound and sight as well as the different rituals and settings throughout your day to help align the fragrance and home scent that best honors each. These thoughtful reflections bring in a broader sense of yourself, your surroundings and provide personalized themes to draw from in selecting your fragrance and home scent varieties.

  1. Creatives in Conversation: Jen Knoch

A self-described creative conductor and former freelance project manager, Jen Knoch recently celebrated the first anniversary of her shop, Senti, a boutique featuring sensory products to elevate everyday life.

Tucked down a discreet cobblestone alley off Edina’s Nolan Mains at 50th & France sits a jewel box of a store, Senti, named for the imperative form of the French verb meaning “to feel.”

  2. Featured Brand: 1000Flowers

I first met Perfumer, Jessica Buchanan, of @1000flowersperfumer outside her atelier/boutique in Old Town Grasse, in 2018. This was my first trip to Grasse and meeting Jessica was my “wish fulfilled” moment. She is a Grasse-trained perfumer, 10+yr resident and veteran in the world of essential oils, natural skincare and fragrance. Her fragrance line was broad and beautiful, her philosophy grounded in deep appreciation and respect for the natural world from the fragrance ingredients to the paper packaging.

New to the Nolan Mains scene is Senti, the brainchild of Jen Knoch, creator of From Grasse with Love (FGWL), a line of luxe fragrances, candles, and skin care products from the perfume capital of the world—Grasse, France.
